Moses Sumney – “Everlasting Sigh”

Alt-pop tracks often use unconventional rhythms to disastrous results, and for a while I couldn’t quite put my finger on why. While listening to “Everlasting Sigh,” the most accomplished track to date from Moses Sumney, I’ve realized it’s that they almost always lack warmth, which is something that this incredible song has in abundance. I’ve been tracking Sumney’s ascent ever since I caught him opening for Blood Orange at Central Park a couple years back, and with this single (and its clever video), the hype surrounding him is finally justified.
