Mixtape Monday: Jamie XX & John Talabot, Anthony Naples

jamie-xx

It’s April, and we’re experiencing a string of days that actually resemble spring. This has, of course, resulted in everyone shedding their seasonal affective disorders and getting out to dance (including yours truly getting down to some amazing live sets from Flight Facilities and Tensnake on Saturday). Luckily, the mixtape gods decided to join in on the fun with a back to back set from Jamie XX and John Talabot.

Despite the dark nature of the xx’s sound and, to a lesser extent, Talabot’s excellent debut album, the two always turn it into a party for their DJ sets. As part of the festivities at WMC in Miami last week, the London and Barcelona producers linked up for a truly special three hour set of funky soul jams and deep house cuts. From the opening moments onward, this mix is as sunny as the view from your window today. Download it here.

If you happen to be stuck with shitty weather wherever you are, though, Anthony Naples has the goods for you. While the Mister Saturday Night poster child burst onto the scene with the happy “Mad Disrespect,” he’s been moving in a darker direction over the span of the past season, and it’s reflected in this new FACT mix featuring a truly bonkers opening. Download it here. If four-plus hours of dancing isn’t enough for you, Mixtape Monday alum Ryan Hemsworth has a new set up as well, so get dancing and get the week started.
