Mixtape Monday: Atoms for Peace

The clocks were set ahead this weekend, and I’m pretty sure the world is still collectively groggy as a result this week. It may be daylight savings time, but it’s still gray and depressing outside in New York. Still, instead of shaking our fists at all the assholes enjoying sunshine in Austin, we’re going to enjoy some jams instead. The mixes I’d hope to share this week have yet to find their way to the information superhighway, so we’ll have to settle for Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich instead (if that counts as settling, anyway).

Yorke and Godrich are no strangers to fun mixes, but they take a slightly different approach for their Essential Mix as Atoms for Peace. Where the duo usually use mixes to prove that they’ve still got their ear to the ground, this time around they give us two hours of at least marginally familiar tunes that helped inspire their new album, Amok. Really, though, who’s going to complain about hearing unreleased material from Yorke and Radiohead? Not me, that’s who.
